The Beacon Hospital has opened their new Cath Lab Admissions and Recovery Suite, as part of the ongoing construction of Beacon Hospital’s third Cath Lab. Last year there was over 5,000 procedures performed in their Cath Lab – this year already seeing increased volumes. The development of the new Cath Lab was commenced in order to maintain this level of growth. This new Cath Lab project will both significantly increase capacity and improve our patient experience. Cath Lab provides a comprehensive range of services including Angiography and PCI, Structural heart, Congenital, Electrophysiology, and Cardiac Rhythm Management. The new Admissions and Recovery area will enable them to expand each of these services, while improving facilities for both our patients and staff.
We provided the hospital with a V5 Intelligent Control System to add to our range of existing Controls Systems throughout the hospital’s operating theatres, patient recovery wards and general areas.
The V5 System is designed to protect life and property from damage caused by smoke and fire. In the case of an emergency, the fully-integrated life safety system plays an extremely important role; the automatic fire dampers that are incorporated into the system. Working with the client, our engineers were able to assist in interpreting the complex cause and effect requirements, and then programme the system to ensure that in the case of a fire, the control panel directs particular dampers to close in the affected zones of the building. Engineers have designed the system with the user in mind, providing an innovative tool that has a simple means of installation and operation.
